Na última semana, a polícia prendeu Anderson dos Santos Oliveira
em flagrante no Aeroporto Santos Dumont. Funcionário de uma empresa que
presta serviços para a Infraero, ele furtou um notebook da bagagem de um turista,
mas o crime foi identificado pelas câmeras de segurança. Infelizmente, este caso
é apenas mais um entre centenas que ocorrem diariamente, não apenas no Brasil,
mas em aeroportos de todo o mundo. Furtos, danos e extravios cada vez mais
frequentes fazem do check-in um momento de angústia: sua bagagem é pesada
e segue pela esteira, mas você nunca sabe se a verá novamente.
No ano passado abordamos este problema aqui no Melhores Destinos, mas
desde então o quadro apenas se agravou. Todas as notícias que postamos
com relação a aeroportos e companhias aéreas são seguidas de dezenas de
comentários de leitores frustrados e revoltados, que foram vítimas de crimes ou
atrasos e jamais foram ressarcidos.

RARISSOS OS CASOS ONDE EXITE A PUNIÇÃO DEVIDA
O crescimento no número de reclamações nos aeroportos brasileiros é
assustador. De acordo com a Anac, em 2010 foram registradas 7.170
queixas envolvendo problemas com bagagens: um aumento de 74% em
relação ao ano anterior.
Mas o problema não se restringe ao Brasil. De acordo com o 7º Relatório
Anual de Bagagem da SITA, empresa líder mundial em soluções de comunicação
e TI para a indústria aérea, em 2010 foram notificados 29,4 milhões de bagagens
atrasadas, número que representa um aumento de 4,4% em relação a 2009.
Ao que parece, existem quadrilhas criminosas que agem impunemente nos
terminais, que têm preferência clara pelos passageiros de voos internacionais
com seus cobiçados artigos de luxo, como roupas e perfumes, além de eletrônicos,
dinheiro e cartões, que alguns deixam de levar na bagagem de mão com medo de
assaltos. Quem escapa da ação dos criminosos corre o risco de cair na falta de
estrutura das empresas e aeroportos e ter a mala extraviada por semanas ou meses,
ou até perdida definitivamente.
Como se proteger?
A resposta para esta pergunta é difícil, já que não existe uma forma totalmente
segura de evitar os furtos e extravios. Algumas dicas, contudo, pelo menos
dificultam a ação de criminosos e funcionários mal preparados:
Identificação – Identifique bem sua mala, com etiquetas ou até adesivos,
inclusive no interior da mesma. Isso ajuda bastante caso ela seja extraviada.
Além disso, caso a segurança decida abri-la para vistoria, em alguns países
eles chamam o proprietário pelo sistema de som do aeroporto, evitando danos;
Proteção – Já são famosos os vídeos na internet mostrando como é fácil abrir

ponto da mala ou que se opte por malas rígidas sem zíper. Os plásticos
do tipo “protect bag” também são uma opção interessante, mas são
destruídos em caso de vistorias;
Objetos de valor – A regra é repetida por todas as companhias mundo a fora:
dinheiro, cartões, cheques de viagem e documentos devem ser transportados
nas malas de mão, nunca despachados. O mesmo vale para celulares,
máquinas fotográficas e outros eletrônicos, que são alvos primários
dos ladrões de bagagem;
Cuidados essenciais – A Anac recomenda que se faça a declaração dos bens
de valor despachados junto à companhia aérea, medida que facilita indenizações
em casos de furto ou extravio. Além disso, é essencial manter consigo o
comprovante de despacho das bagagens e fazer uma verificação ao retirá-las
no desembarque, checando danos e objetos.
Recomendação – Nos voos de ida, mantenha sempre pelo menos uma muda
de roupa em sua bagagem de mão. Isso será muito útil caso sua bagagem
seja extraviada. Remédios, vouchers, agendas e contatos também devem ir
sempre com você – a regra é imaginar o que pode acontecer e se preparar
para isso.
O que fazer em caso de problemas?
Os problemas com as bagagens devem ser notificados imediatamente à
companhia aérea, por escrito, no próprio aeroporto. Ao contrário do que muitos
pensam, porém, o passageiro não perde o direito de reivindicar danos e objetos
furtados ao deixar o saguão. De acordo com a Anac, o viajante tem um prazo
de 15 dias para reclamar de bagagens extraviadas e 7 dias para malas danificadas
ou com artigos furtados – a regra, porém, varia conforme o país de desembarque.
Caso a bagagem seja extraviada, a empresa tem prazo de 30 dias (voos nacionais)
e 21 dias (internacionais) para entregá-la no endereço indicado pelo proprietário.
Após este prazo, a companhia aérea deve indenizá-lo.
No caso de furtos, além de comunicar a empresa, o passageiro deve fazer
um registro de ocorrência junto à polícia, autoridade competente para averiguar o fato.
Vale lembrar que nenhuma reclamação deve ser feita apenas verbalmente.
Se for imprescindível fazer por telefone, anote data, horário, nome do funcionário
e protocolo da reclamação.
Além disso, no Brasil a Justiça determina que o passageiro seja indenizado conforme
seu prejuízo, respeitando o Código de Defesa do Consumidor. Portanto não aceite o
valor limite que a companhia queira impor, com base em acordos internacionais
como o Código de Varsóvia.
